Adventures during the March break
It’s been ages since I blogged on this almost defunct blog. Since I have all the time in my hands, I shall attempt to give this another go, and begin by blogging about psyched I am about having this week off in March!
March marks the Southeast Asian Film Festival(http://www.singaporeartmuseum.sg/seaff). I caught the opening film Fable of the Fish on Friday evening which was unique but little underwhelming. I do think Brother Number One and Dancing with Dictators look very promising. See the full list of trailers here (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7F54D48EA0C2A004&feature=plcp).
Sailed along the strip of water in between Sands and Fullerton Bay Hotel yesterday afternoon with some of the old sailors. While it appears to and did not have much wind on a balmy Saturday afternoon, those who sailed in the early afternoon claimed they had decent gusts. Nevertheless a very different experience, with duck and hippo tour boats chugging by, surrounded by the oh-so-familiar Raffles place. Plus the positive externality of music from the esplanade, and the Sands’ watershow to accompany us on the leisure sail. Would be lovely to do these on weekday evenings.
This was followed by Korean BBQ at Katong 112 with the VJ clique. Nolboo Hangari Galbi is a lazy man’s Korean BBQ with all their grilled meats served barbequed to perfection. Ideal so you won’t reek of BBQ at Teo Heng subsequently, where we were all reduced to a bunch of teenyboppers singing out hearts to bubblegum. Gotta love M2M, BSB, A1 etc. Thank you for a great time Charm, Chris, Von, Nikki, Sue, Chloe, Crystal, Nicole, Jas, Leon, Lynn and Ruth!
Caught up with the sailors at Valentino tonight. Gotta be my favourite restaurant for traditional Italian fare. Service was attentive, and food was top-notch as usual. Pictures to come when I am not so lazy.
Realized this is my first post in 2012. The year has been treating me quite well so far outside work. Chinese New Year went by in a blur, and plenty of exhibitions/plays/concerts going on that have been occupying me outside work. Art Stage was fantastic, and so was Wicked, Laneway and Rachael Yamagata. As Singapore gradually establishes itself as the next Asian Arts mecca, I’m definitely looking forward the slew of events lined up. Think Andy Warhol will be very cool (http://www.cntraveller.in/content/andy-warhol-show-singapore). Have also finished my oil painting classes officially (an epic fail for me I think haha, but cathartic so to speak). Gradually playing tennis more respectably from weekly coaching. And volunteering weekly (unless I am overseas) at RDA as a sidewalker (engage the child/avoid angering the horse), and monthly for Meals on Wheels.
Looking forward to watching the Lady tomorrow, Ting Heng with 5 gang, DEATH CAB ON WEDNESDAY, and then Philippines awaits! Can hardly wait :D
